Zirconium Abutment
A circonium abutment is a small cap for an implant. An abutment is the part which towers up the gum and which is screwed onto the implant. The implant is located in the bone, the crown is connected to the implant with the aid of the abutment. You differentiate between abutments made of titanium and made of zirconium. A zirconium abutment is less stable whilst chewing, but no silver titanium is shimmering through a patient´s soft gum. In the past they used stick connections. Nowadays most of the manufactures use cone connections between implants and abutment. Zirconium abutments are more expensive and should mainly be used in the frontal tooth area.
