Root Tip Removal
A root tip resection, also called R.T.R. in technical jargon, is the surgical removal of the root tip and inflamed tissue. Such an intervention is necessary when there is an inflammation around the root-tip that cannot be treated with ordinary root-fillings. The most common cause of a R.T.R. is a bad root treatment. Patients often save costs on the wrong things and choose ordinary dentists to perform difficult dental treatments instead of going to see a specialist. Inflammations on the root tip can be the result. During the R.T.R. the gum is lifted up carefully side wards, the bone above the root tip is removed so that the root tip is visible. Then the root tip is removed and the canal is cleaned. The cleaning of the canal can happen from above or with special instruments from below. Then the canal is newly closed, the bacteria, which are liable for the inflammation, can be killed and the affected area will heal. Do you want to know more about R.T.R.? Watch this video above.
