Anchor Tooth
(30099 Views)
In dentistry, anchor teeth, prosthetic teeth or retaining elements are different options for the anchoring of dental prostheses, also called dentures. Gaps in your teeth can be filled with dental prostheses in many different ways. A distinction is made between removable dentures and fixed dentures like implants. A fixed denture is more expensive, but also more comfortable and more aesthetic. A removable denture is cheaper and easier to clean, but not as comfortable as a fixed one. The teeth that hold and secure prostheses are called anchor teeth. In the video you will see different versions of dental prostheses and their matching anchor teeth. If anchor teeth are overly stressed, it can lead to the loss of the teeth after a certain number of years. Today, thanks to implantology, dental prostheses can be anchored directly in the jawbone. This means that teeth are no longer mandatory for anchoring dental prostheses.
