5 months ago I had a wisdom tooth extracted that was very close to the nerve. I still have a lot of pain and taking advil more than I should. What can I do now. Can something kill the nerve so the pain will stop.

This is quite unusual. Did you have any numbness to the lip or tongue after the extraction, that would indicate a direct nerve hit? I have never had a wisdom tooth extraction take anywhere near 5 months to recover. Chances are there is another tooth with a problem that is giving the pain.

Yes, it’s quite unnatural to have pain even after 5 month of wisdom tooth extraction. I think you need to check up with your dentist to find out the cause behind the pain. I think there might be a rise of another issue associated with the wisdom tooth extraction.
