Wisdom teeth infection

Hello!

I have a partially erupted wisdom tooth which caused an infection. I've got headache, jaw stiffness and swollen face. I was put on antibiotic for a week. I am now on the end of the course but I still have pain and severe swelling. I can't eat due to the pain. What should I do? Will the dentist put me on another course of antibiotic? Can I ask him to just remove this tooth? It was just so horrible.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I had my wisdom teeth removed because they were infected. I was sedated during the surgery. I didn't feel anything when they were taken out. Antibiotics will only ease the pain temporarily.

Hi!

Food is being trapped between the flap of the gum and the partially impacted wisdom tooth. This leads to infection and extreme pain. The wisdom tooth should be extracted.
