Will my teeth shift after taking my braces off?

Good day to all!

I had my braces on for more than one year and I got them off today. I will be having my retainer in two weeks. I'm kinda afraid to eat hard foods because my teeth might shift. Will my teeth shift or move while I wait for my retainers? I want to make sure they stay in place. Anyone who had experienced this?

Thank you in advance for your answers.

Good day Mybarn!

Yes, they my shift slightly but it is hard to notice. You can still eat hard foods but just be cautious. Your retainer will
shift them back so you do not have to worry that much. :-)

Hi Mybarn,

They do shift but it's a very slight movement. You can still eat hard foods, just be gentle though. Your teeth are strong enough to stay in place for two weeks so do not worry too much.:-)

The teeth will not move a lot within the two-week waiting period for the retainers. Eat anything you want (with caution of course). Enjoy the two weeks of not having them yet.:-)
