white fillings/cavities

Hi, I wanted to change my gray amalgam fillings to white ones. I have one in each side of my mouth so that'd be like 4 "shots" of anesthesia right? Well, I was wondering if that much anesthesia could be applied in a single appointment.

Thanks in advance!

Why would you want to change your fillings just because they are silver color? In addition to it being considerable expense, you run the risk of causing irritation to the nerves that will require root canals. Are you willing to risk that?

In my experience, you can expect no more than 11 years of life out of a white filling. I see silver fillings all the time with 30 or more years of service. Are you really willing to have white resin fillings which will need to be replaced an average of once every 10 years?

I agree with Dr Kim, white fillings don’t last longer, and need to be replaced after every few years. It might be possible that white fillings would irritate the existing nerve within a tooth as well.
