Hello everyone,

After having my braces on for one year and five months, finally, I will be taking them off. I am excited and kinda nervous. Can anyone tell me the procedure? I drink soda almost everyday and I am afraid I might have spots on my teeth now. What will I do in case I do have them? Please help!

Hi Candidly,

Congrats, you're done! :-)

As for the procedure, they first take the wire off. After that they will take the brackets off then they'll scrape the glue off. They may ask you to brush your teeth. The procedure does not hurt but you will feel a little pressure. After the whole thing, they will mold your retainer and you will get an schedule for the fitting. Ask your dentist about the white spots if you see them after cleaning your teeth.

Hello!

They will clip the brackets, then take the arches out. Then they will sand all the cement off until the teeth are shiny and smooth. Retainer comes in next.

They use special tools to get them off. They will clean and polish the teeth after. You will be asked to wear retainer for several months. You will feel really good after taking those metals off from your mouth:-)
