Vertically cracked tooth

Last summer, my second molar tooth at the bottom left cracked and my dentist had it filled. When filling just came out, my new dentist told me it has to be extracted. Is there any way I could save my tooth? It was vertically cracked. My dentist thinks the nerve is dead because my tooth wasn’t sensitive at all. If I have it extracted, will it affect the rest of my teeth?
