Underbite surgery

The orthodontist scheduled me for an underbite surgery. I had two bicuspids removed and the gaps were already fully closed through braces. I can now see that my upper teeth have begun to overlap my lower teeth. Do still need the surgery now that I no longer have an underbite? Please advise! I am really nervous about the surgery and I want to avoid it if I no longer need it. Many thanks.:-)

Hello. Unfortunately it is very difficult to imagine your case without radiographs and actually seeing what is going one. Your best option is to consult with the orthodontist who is treating you or seek a second opinion before going ahead with the surgery. The improvements that you are noticing may not last for a long time without the surgery and perhaps that is why you were recommended the surgery.

If your are unsure or doubt a treatment plan you should seek another opinion in order to make a well informed choice. Best of luck.
