Under bite jaw surgery in Thorn Hill

Hi, I would like to share my experience regarding the under bite surgery that had happened just a few months back. I found this issue a year back while chewing the food and some of my friends informed me about the difference in my speech pattern. While browsing I found the review about Thornhill Smile Centre ( http://www.thornhillsmilecentre.com/services/mybite/ ) and I consulted myself over there. I had lower jaw surgery to correct my under bite The pain wasn't bad for me as long as I took pain killers. They didn't have to "wire" my mouth to close. They just put rubber bands on my braces from top to bottom on each side to keep from opening my mouth too wide. I have started having regular food about 4 to 5 weeks afterwards. Now I am in a good condition and healthy.

To clarify to readers how this should be done, an orthodontist and oral surgeon should confer with each other and plan the case. These days virtual surgery with different outcomes can be evaluated on the computer. Orthodontics is initiated, with the goal of making the teeth fit together AFTER the surgery. The teeth may actually begin to look WORSE before the surgery! ONce the jaw surgery is done orthodontics is completed over several more months.

RARELY does orthognathic surgery alone produce a stable bite that does not relapse. Amost always it must be accompanied by orthodontics. Otherwise, the bite is not stable.

I don't know where the poster is from, but due to the expense and risk of nerve damage, orthognathic surgery is not done very much in the US anymore. It is probably done more in Europe, and certainly a lot in Latin America and the Far East.
