Tooth extraction after care

Hello!

I've had a severely decayed molar pulled yesterday. It was broken a long time ago but I did not go to the dentist to have it checked until it has decayed over time. Until now, it is still bleeding and I keep on biting down on a clean swab to stop it from bleeding. The dentist gave me little to no instructions on what to do after the extraction. I have been very worried about dry socket. How can I make the healing process easier for me? What kind of foods can I eat? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hello Silverfilling,

Take over the counter pain reliever, such as ibuprofen or paracetamol. Do not touch the extraction site with your tongue or finger to avoid disturbing the blood clot. The blood clot is very important in avoiding a dry socket.

Hello!

Make sure you complete the full course of the prescribed antibiotics even if all symptoms or signs of an infection are no longer present before the end of the prescribed time.
