Tooth broken down the gum line

User Level:

Two weeks ago, one of my top molars was broken down the gum line when I happened to bit down on something hard. This tooth was root canalled five years ago. Due to financial crisis, I didn’t have it crowned. A very small part of the tooth is showing in the gum. It is sharp and cuts my tongue. Can the remaining part of the teeth be removed without making an incision in the gum? Thank you for any responses.

Nobody can say without examining you. My advice is to find an ex-military dentist who will restore the tooth with a huge amalgam, which will be about a fourth to a third the cost of a crown.

After spending a good chunk of change doing a molar root canal, you do not want to lose that tooth!
