Swollen gums and face after flossing

Hi all!

I have a tooth that was filled a couple of months ago. Last week, after I flossed my teeth, the gums on the area of the filled tooth were very swollen and the tooth was very painful. Today, the swelling has reached my face and the tooth is feeling loose. Is there a problem on the way I flossed? Will this go away or do I need to see a dentist? Please help!

Thanks a lot!

Hello!

The nerve in the tooth could be dying and a root canal is likely necessary to remove the infection.

If the tooth is feeling loose, you should see a dentist as soon as you can.

Try to apply clove oil to the gums to ease the swelling and the pain.
