Swollen face,jaw and glands

Two weeks ago, I went to the emergency room because of an unbearable pain in my right ear. The doctor said, I have an ear infection and he put me on antibiotics for a week. This morning I woke up with a swollen face, jaw and glands. My cheeks felt tight and heavy and my mouth is hurting. I noticed that the gum around my second molar is tender and a little bit swollen. Did the infection reach my mouth? Am I showing signs of an abscess? Please advise me on what to do.

Hello gotbubbles!
There is no connection between your ear infection and your mouth. Either, there is an additional problem with your tooth, or maybe it is the primary cause of your problems.
A problematic upper-jaw tooth can, for example, lead to a maxillary inflammation, or sinusitis; this in turn can result in a middle ear infection.
I suggest you consult with your ENT as to the exact source of the ear infection; additionally you should also get your teeth checked out.

Hello!
You could have an abscessed tooth. Continue with your antibiotic and take pain killers. Have this checked by the dentist before the infection spreads out.

Thanks for your replies. I've just had my second molar removed. We found out it was infected and it affected other parts of my body like my face, throat and ears. It was also the culprit of my recurring headache. Thanks again!
