Swelling and pain after whitening

Good day!

Two days ago, for the first time, I tried to whiten my teeth. I used a teeth whitening substance in powder form. Everything was fine until this morning, I noticed a slight swelling in my gum. It was painful when I drank hot chocolate. After eating lunch, the pain started and I've got sensations in my teeth. Has anyone experienced swelling after whitening? What should I do? Please help!

Hello Candidly!

This happened to me once and it lasted for a few days. It turned out I was allergic to the whitening product that I used. I stopped using the product and I never had a problem anymore. I now go to the dental office for teeth whitening procedure.

I think it is always better to consult the dentist first before using any teeth whitening product or have your teeth cleaned at a clinic. I used strips and gels to whiten my teeth but they never helped.
