Hi there! My top left canine was extracted yesterday. Now, I have a severe swelling from the extraction site to my nose. Is this normal? How long does it take to go down? It is very noticeable and I can’t go out of the house like this.

Why on earth would you have the longest-rooted tooth in the mouth extracted, the upper canine? Post-ops from these are usually quite bad, as you found out. By all means, have a bone graft to this area so an implant can be placed. As to your pain and swelling, have the treating dentist check it.

Thank you Doc! It was decayed and badly broken. I can't afford any expensive restoration procedures so I asked the dentist to have it pulled.
