Speech impediment with braces

User Level:

Hi!

I got braces on about two months ago. I was told that it will make me sound like I have a speech impediment but I will get used to it eventually. It's been two months now since I got my braces and I still have a significant lisp to my voice. I also have this hunk of metal that sticks to the roof of my mouth and I think it is also affecting my speech but I am not sure. Does anyone know of a faster way to make my speaking sound normal again?

Many thanks!

Hello Protege:-)

It is quite normal to have difficulty in talking when you first have your braces. It will eventually go away on its own once your mouth gets used to them. You can also speed it up by talking as much as you can.
