Small painful dent on gums

User Level:
Patient
Posted by: ShlbLynn  (8 years ago)
The other day I noticed some pain in my gums above and between two of my teeth. It has now changed to a small painful dent, maybe a millimeter wide. Anyone know what it is? I don't know if I should go see a dentist about it or not.

Dear patient,
your history is not complete. check for any decay in your these teeh and adjuscent teeth also. a chronic decay may cause this type of lesion or it may be due to some trauma also.....i think a u should go for check-up..

If your teeth are in good shape, the most likely diagnosis is an aphthous ulcer or a Herpes ulcer, aka a "cold sore." There is nothing you can do to get rid of these. They heal in about 10 days.

If you have many decayed teeth, it may be a fistula draining pus.

Any dentist can diagnose this problem.
