Should I save my wisdom tooth?

Hi there!

My lower right wisdom tooth has been aching a lot lately so I decided to go to the dentist to have it pulled. It is slightly decayed. The dentist wouldn't want to extract it. He wanted to save it, do a root canal and put a crown in. I've heard that wisdom teeth should be taken out it they're causing any problem so I was wondering why he wanted to save it. Should I agree with the dentist or have my wisdom tooth removed? I'm not sure what to do.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would recommend getting it pulled. You really do not need your wisdom teeth anyway. They are difficult to reach when brushing and flossing so they will rot away sooner or later.

A wisdom tooth is not worth saving by a root canal treatment. Get it extracted. Wisdom teeth are difficult to maintain because of their location in the mouth. I've had all mine pulled and I didn't have any problem.
