sharp pain

I had a tooth pulled about 3 months ago now. I have had my dentist shave down some of my teeth to adjust my bite due to severe pain after the tooth was pulled. I am now experiencing a pain like no other I have felt before. This tooth is directly in front of the area in which the other tooth was removed and this tooth has a metal filling which has been in place for about 10 years now. It hurts to run my tongue across the tooth, bite down, and even breath in cool air. There is also pain underneath the gum line. It hurts for the tooth to move in any way. What could be the cause and how can I get it fixed?

Well, now you know why you should have saved that tooth. The radical solution of having a permanent tooth extracted often leads to even more problems.
