Severe Pain On The Hard Palate After Root Canal

User Level:
Patient

I had a root canal on tooth # 10, it had a chronic abcess which did not hurt, after the root canal, my endodontist temporarily closed it cause he said it is still draining, thr next day I have very slight swelling & severe pain around tooth number 10 and my hard palate( its not close to tooth 10, actually its in the back?) its throbbing pain, not relieved by tylenol or motrin much, i called the endodontist, he put me on antibiotics and vicodin. I've been on abt x 2 days now, still no improvement, vicodin works for 2 hours only then i'll be in severe pain that wakes me up at night... What is happening to me? Is this okay? Will it resolve? Why do i have pain in the palate? My endodontist said its an infective flare up..but idk.. Its so painful.

You have pain because there is pus building up in your palata. More and more bateria are resistant to antibiotics. Have your dentist lance the area in your palate and let the pus drain out. You should feel better quickly.
