Let me start off with i have never had ay problem with me teeth until now, so i am completely ignorant to all of it. I recently went to the dentist because i have had some pain in my teeth. when eating sweets and sometimes with cold food. He drilled out one of my teeth, the worse one. and told me that my nerve was exposed amd that i would need it taken out or need a root canal. I told them i would like to keep the tooth if possible. He filled it with something white, he didnt really explain anything to me of what he was doing. or any options really either. well since then(this was about little over a week) it been throbbing and hurting so much worse then it was before i went to them. The pain is going all the way up my jaw. and anything cold makes it ten times worse. what i would like to to is A) what could he have possibly put in my tooth. and what does that do. and B) if i dont do anything about it will it keep getting worse? i was thinking about doing the root canal but its money i just dont have. And if i have the tooth taken out what will they do to replace it? and how well that works. And why my tooth and jaw hurt so much more now then i did before. Thank you for any advice

Hello!

That tooth which is gettin started to threat, but it doesn't treated well can be really hurtful. If you will not make your root canal, you must take it out with a doctor. You can replace it with implants or a bridge. Anyway, these options are more expensive than the root canal.

When we only visit the dentist when we have pain, instead of regularly for check-ups, it costs more money.

Waiting until you have pain has now given you only two options- have a root canal, or have a precious tooth extracted.

I strongly encourage you to have the root canal, if for no other reason than an extraction, graft, implant, and implant crown will be far more expensive.

So in the future, go to the dentist regularly, and you will save money plus save your teeth.
