Red line around back tooth and pain on all sides of the mout

I have a history of bad dental hygiene. Not as in I don't brush or anything, but more like a history of bad decay. I am just always susceptible to decay more than most people. My dentist has told me this and I have gotten two or three root canals done so far. I have also gotten my wisdom teeth taken out, a total of five.

Lately I've been having gum pain on the upper right part of my mouth, behind my farthest tooth. I don't know if it's an abcess or canker sore, because I get a lot of canker sores. However the pain is in the same spot as the other side of my mouth but to a lesser degree. Still they are rather similar and it's more of a gum pain than a tooth problem. On my lower back molars, I think that's what the farthest teeth are called, I have this red line appearing around the gum. I think it might be gingivitis because I've been slacking on flossing and using the water pick. I'm not sure what it is though, but again it is also on the other side of my mouth in the same place.

I have attached a photo (sorry if it's blurry). It bleeds but there is no pain. However on my upper part of my mouth both sides hurt to the touch which makes brushing rather difficult. I will see my dentist when I can but I'd like some opinions on this, just some general ideas. Thanks.

Looks like some very inflamed gum tissue behind the second molar. My recommendation is to have your dentist check pocket depth very carefully in that area. It is likely that you have a piece of tartar on the back of the second molar under your gum. This is an area commonly missed by hygienists.
