Radicular cyst growing into maxillary sinusitis

Hi,

After my visit to our local oral and maxillofacial surgen, i discovered there are two cysts - each above the root of 56/65 molars of right and left side.

The doctor recommends Root canal of the molars (56/65) before surgery because it may cause pain later on.

My question is, will removing the cyst without doing root canal damage the teeth, or is it wise to do root canal before surgery? None of the teeth have decays or cavities.

Just looking for a second opinion

The vitility of the roots of the teeth should be checked. Probably the surgeon thinks the blood supply to the pulps will be disrupted with removal of the cysts. However, it might not be. I see no harm in having the cysts removed, then checking every 3 months or so to see if the roots of the molars are non-vital. The minute they are found to be non-vital, you should have root canals.

However, if the dental pulps are already decay, you should probably have root canals before the surgery.
