Hello!

I just had my expander on yesterday and I find it quite hard to deal with it. It's hard to talk and eat. I am supposed to wear it for six months. Can someone tell me how long will it take before I can talk and eat better with it? What it is like when it gets turned. How can I clean it especially when food gets stuck in it?

Sorry to hear that Kris.

You will get used to talking normally again in a week or so. Eating will be normal soon. For the meantime, eat soft foods. You will only feel pressure when the key is turned.

Hello Kris!

Expnder is used to widen the upper jaw for the bottom and upper teeth to fit together better. It takes a few days to adjust to eating and speaking. When the expansion screw is being turned, you will only feel slight pressure, no pain at all.

Your mouth will be sore in about two days. Your mouth will get used to talking and eating with it in about a week or two. "Turning" the key will only cause some pressure. It does not hurt.
