Problem with permanent dentures

Hello,

I had all my top teeth extracted and had immediate dentures put in. They worked great; I was able to talk and eat well with them. After a year, I was able to get a permanent denture. The first time it was fitted, it felt crooked. I didn’t like the color too; it was very white. I went back to the dentist thrice to straighten the denture out but it just doesn’t feel right. On my fourth visit, I asked the dentist if she could just change it and she agreed. She did fittings, impressions and all the stuff. After a few weeks, the new denture was put in my mouth. I was not still satisfied with it. The teeth were thin and way too long. My bite is also way off. Has anyone had similar problem with his or her dentures? They said I was just meticulous but I am not really comfortable with them. I choke and cannot eat well. What should I do now? Please help. Thanks.

Complete dentures are one of the hardest things dentists do. Some dentists are better at it than others. Some patients are impossible to ever please. If you have another fabricated, it might be wise to try another dentist.

We always tell patients to save their teeth and avoid dentures. Now you know why.

Hello. Your case may be more complicated since you have your natural teeth on the bottom. If you do not like esthetics then you should with another dentist especially one who is recommended for making dentures. Dentures will never look as good as natural teeth.
