Problem with my retainer

User Level:

I had braces on for about two years. When I got them off I waited for my retainers for about a week. In that time, one of my bottom teeth had moved slightly on top of the other. I wear my top retainer at night only. My orthodontist tightened my bottom retainer and he advised me to wear it all the time. I have been, but after a year of doing this, the tooth hasn't moved back yet. Is there a problem with my retainer? What else can be done to have my tooth move back?

Please advice and thank you very much.

My son kept having that problem, so they just cemented his retainers in so they would be in all of the time.

Hello Chiptooth,

Just keep wearing them. I wore mine for about two years and I also thought it is not doing anything but after the
prescribed period, my teeth are now back in their proper places.:-)

Hi Chiptooth!

Keep wearing your retainer even if you think your tooth isn't moving back. As long as it is fitted correctly, I guess it is doing its job. But if you are really bothered with it, I suggest you talk to your orthodontist about it. Good luck:-)
