I need to have my teeth fixed, but the prices here are very high. My dentist quoted me over 10K for all the issues i have. I have been browsing the net for a cheaper but still high quality solution and i found a company, that offers dental work in Hungary, Europe. I don't want the Mexican or Thai dentists, as i just don't trust them, but these guys seemed pretty good. Has anybody been to Hungary getting their teeth done? How was it? Did they speak English? Was it as good in quality as US dentists? What about the price? Has anyone been with dental-vacation.com? Please advise... I need to make a decision soon! Thanks

If you think dental care in the US is expensive now, just wait until the new Obamacare taxes get charged on dental equipment in another year. Just remember we were supposed to pass the bill so we could see what was in it.

Many, but not all, Eastern European dentists are pretty good. I have a good friend and colleague in Romania. However, I would be hesitant to patronize a foreign practice based on website advertising.

The problem is taking enough time off to have it all done on foreign shores. There are always post-op problems. Don't expect US dentists to do post-ops for free. Implants mean you must take at least two trips overseas. Can you afford that?

Also problematic is them using implants that are not available in the US. If parts are needed, you will be up the creek.

Certain things like orthodontics and periodontal surgery are NOT PRACTICAL to do on foreign shores, as they take so many appointments over so much time.

Thank you for your advise! I was doing this major search however checking the prices and reviews of the dentistry in Hungary, and so far, even if i have to fly back and forth a few times, i am still getting cheaper care than in the US... Your points are valid tho, with regards to technology over there being sometimes different from US, i keep seeing it advertised all over, that they have higher quality/newer technologies, as the US would approve of yet. That may be a concern or it could be something even more daring to go there instead of paying here top dollar for older technologies...
I am still hoping to hear from people who actually have been there and have hands on experience with dentistry over in Hungary. Please help me make up my mind!

It is pure baloney about Eastern Europe having newer available technologies than here. In the best offices, they have the same. In the worst offices, they have Soviet-era equipment.

I can't name much new technology that makes that much difference in patient treatment. The most important thing is the skill and diligence provided by the dentist and his lab technician. The bells and whistles in the operatory are a far second. For instance, digital x-rays do no show one any more detail than film does. Little, if any radiation exposure is saved over F-speed film. Lasers are another technology that is oversold. They cut slower than electrosurgery that have been around since the 1960s, and you still must be numbed prior to use.

You need to be very, very careful. One thing about Eastern Europe is few precious metals are used in crowns and bridges. Silver-palladium and gold alloys, which have favorable physical properties, are hardly ever used.

Once again, I warn you that dentists in your home country will assuredly NOT do the inevitable post-op care you will need for free.

Dear Maria !

Our dentist's office takes place at Hungary.
Almost 2000 patients/year get dental treatment at us, most of them come from abroad ( Great Britain, USA, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, etc. )
Inasmuch as Hungary is the part of the European Union, every dentist's office has the ultimate tools and modern equipment.
We work with the same quality of equipments as the rest of the world's modern dentist's offices.
The dental qualification in Hungary is very developed and wellknown through the world, lot of american students learn here too.
My suggestion for you is that check our homepage ( www.contident.com) where you can get into contact with us by e-mail or phone.

Hi, Maria!
I have been to Hungary with Dental-vacation.com. I had loads of work done and i had an excellent experience! All the dentists and staff was fluent in English, i stayed in a sweet hotel right by the river Danube with amazing view of the city, walking distance from the clinic, i had some outstanding experience with the work (it didn't even hurt) awesome people and the vacation part was the added bonus! This company is based here in the US, they have great staff here too, helped me with everything i needed. I can only say, go girl! You wont regret it for one second!
