Pain in teeth beside root canal

Ouch! 2 years ago I needed a root canal in my lower right canine due to a dead tooth. A few weeks ago, I started having a mild throb in the tooth behind it, especially after I drink soda. Once the throbbing stopped, I get a metallic taste in my mouth and the entire right side of my mouth hurts. I had a thorough cleaning today and nothing showed up on the xrays. My dentist hopes it's from my gum disease and should heal with time. Is that normal? The gross taste makes me sick to my stomach.

Sounds like a form of gum disease called Trenchmouth to me. I doubt it has anything to do with the root canal in your canine.

That's the most disgusting term I've ever heard!! But thank you for the reply. I'll do some googling and see if I can find a solution to go with what I'm doing now.
