Pain at the roof of my mouth

User Level:

In the morning when I wake up, I feel pain in the roof of my mouth. It hurts more when I eat anything and the pain gets so unbearable. The pain goes away at night. This discomfort will only start when I wake up and start my day. Any ideas what could this be? Thanks a lot!

Hi Moonwalk!

Pain in the roof of the mouth is a common condition experienced by many people. It is a palate irritation caused by a dry mouth especially if you breathe through your mouth. Keep a bottle of water in your room, and whenever you wake up at night, drink it. During the day, drink a plenty of water too.

People with acid reflux usually experience this. They breathe through their mouth when they sleep and the acid creeps up the throat. Drinking a lot of water can help you get rid of this.
