Pain and bump

For the past week, I have been experiencing pain in my bottom right first premolar tooth. Yesterday, I went to the dentist because the pain became unbearable and the painkiller did not help at all. He said the tooth was badly abscessed. He performed a root canal right away. When the procedure was done, he prescribed antibiotics and Ibuprofen. Last night, I noticed that the pain became worse when I lay down. I also noticed that the bump from the abscess was still there and it felt hard and swollen. Does it take a while to go away? Why do I get extreme pain when I lay down? Is this something to be worried about? Thank you in advance!

Have your dentist lance the swelling and see if he can get pus to drain out. If he can, it will relieve most of the pain and heal a lot more quickly.
