Pain after root canal re-treatment

Six years ago, I had a root canal treatment on my upper left second premolar. Two months ago, this tooth started hurting. Last week, I went to the dentist to have it checked. He saw an infection in the tooth and he referred me to an endodontist for a root canal re-treatment. He gave me Clindamycin 300mg to be taken three times a day. It has been five days since I had the re treatment done and I still have this terrible pain. I also feel sensitivity in the left side of my mouth. Is this something I should be worried of? Please advise me. Thank you so much in advance.

Well, this is something both your dentists would know better. But since it sounds like your first root canal failed and you had pain consequently, I'm guessing the infection must have made it way down your tooth root into the periapical space. The second RCT (assuming it was done right and there is no pulp left) must not have made much of a difference.

Anyway, please get back to your dentist for a better opinion and have a vitality test done, just to be sure. While you are there, check if your bite (with the crown) is appropriate too. Meanwhile, get on some painkillers soon. The sensitivity could be just referred pain, I'm not sure. Take care!
