I had my root canal treatment done and I have just had my crown on my upper molar on last Thursday. There is no problem on the bite on upper and lower molars. The only problem I have is i have experiencing some pain. There is some gum inflammation. I don't really have pain when i woke up but the pain will start later. Not sure what causes the problem. After root canal, it was totally fine and only start after the crown. Appreciate if you could advise on what should do.

During a crown procedure cord is placed underneath the gums to stop bleeding in order to take a good impression. Sometimes the gum is sore afteward. Rinse with warm salt water and see if it gets better. If not, it may be a Herpes virus infection on the gums, which sometimes is triggered by dental treatment.

When i eat softfood like bananas or kiwis, i dont experience the pain and if i eat something harder then i experience the pain. Is it the crown problem or inflammation then. Shld not herpes, correct?

sometimes there is gap between gum and tooth at crown tooth interface which causes food to get trapped in that area which causes pain due to pressure, so the best option is to keep the area clean u can use an interdental brush to keep it clean after taking any meal. U can also apply gum paint to the gum area.

I will advise you to again consult with your dentist for this problem. I don't think this is a big problem, but take a safer side and consult with your dentist because recently you have the dental surgery.

Thanks for the advice.

I felt that if i have a slight knocking on my crown, there is some pain. I am not too sure if i should see my dentist who did the crown?
