Orthodontist will not adjust my fixed retainer.

I got my fixed retainers mid-May. I have been back 3 times to get the top adjusted because my bottom tooth was hitting it. There is one tooth where I can barely get floss through without pain which she will not fix and she will not fix another spot where the wire is not close enough to the tooth and I get food caught in it. She also has said some things to me which were insensitive. I want to go to another orthodontist for subsequent work. What is the etiquette for that? By the way, I'm 59 yrs old and I don't need this.

I would just explain the problem you are having an if that doesn't work, find a new orthodontist. I have worked for many Portland Dentists so I know there is a way to find comfort when you are having something done. I think you might need to find a new dentist. Since you are older, the teeth might not heal a quickly but you do need a dentist who is sensitive to your sensitivity. You have waited a long time for this and you should get the best treatment!

Thank you. I would like the response of a professional to tell me the protocol on how to deal with this.
