Numbness of my lip and chin

Hello I did a surgery to remove my wisdom tooth, bottom left. I did the extraction last week Tuesday and the tooth hole it self stop hurting me but there is still the numbness of my lips and chin and it making me unable to eat and talk properly. It has been 5 days now and it still hasn't gone. I want o know what could have cause that.

That is a risk of extracting lower wisdom teeth that should have been explained to you. There is nothing to do but wait. The feeling usually comes back in 6 months or less. If it does not return in a year, there is a slight possibility that nerve microsurgery can be done in a university setting. However, that is seldom necessary.

The dentist did not necessarily do anything wrong, the nerve bundle was just disturbed. I have been extracting wisdom teeth for 36 years, and I have not yet had a patient who did not recover from parasthesia.

Incidentally, the disturbance need not be from the extraction. I have experienced a paresthesia from in injection alone.
