Numbness After Implant

User Level:
Patient

Hello,

Two weeks ago, I had an implant put in on tooth #29. Three days later, I went back to the oral surgeon to complain about the numbness in my chin and lower lip. He said the implant could be compressing a nerve area and he backed it at out for about a millimeter. The numbness has not gone. Is this going to be permanent? Does removing the implant cure it? Please help. Thank you in advance.

Usually parastheisas like this diminish by themselves, in six months or less. There is NOTHING you can do to speed the process. Your surgeon is correct in saying the nerve was probably distubed in some way by implant placement.
