Noncavity Filled

User Level:

Hi, I went to the dentist and she said my Xray showed a deep cavity in a tooth. She opened it up and admitted that there was no cavity, the tooth was still hard. So she filled it in. I feel really stupid for getting a filling for a tooth that had no cavity. Is it my dentists fault? Thanks

As incredible as it may seem to you, determining whether there is really decay in a deep pit or fissure is sometimes very difficult. How she thought she saw it on x-ray and it was not there is the mystery. Perhaps she was a fairly young clinician.
