Hi, just joined in the hope of maybe getting some advice, Just over 2 months ago i had a check up and was told to have an opg done on my lower left wisdom tooth as it may need extraction, After seeing the opg it was decided it needed to come out and that a specialist had to take it out, Iam a medical card holder but had to pay 250 for this procedure to be carried out, Seemingly a piece of my jaw bone had to be removed but apart from that i felt it went well!!

I followed the after care, but after about a week i was having trouble opening my jaw, eating etc which i figured was somewhat normal but i remember being told i would experience pain the day after surgery but after that it should ease and as i was experiencing pain i decided i would have the dentist take a look, Upon return he informed me that it was still healing and that the top wisdom tooth above may be biting down on it and that removing it would be no harm and it would quicken the healing process, he said i wouldnt need a specialist to remove the top wisdom and that he could go ahead and do so himself!!

Needless to say i still suffered and back i went again to which i was told i may have dry socket, as time went on and after a few visits it was then suggested a may have a sinus infection! he could not see any problem with my teeth obviously!

I have since been to A&E and ended up being seen in E.N.T.. (by this stage i had been on 3 courses of antibiotics and various painkillers) I had a camera put up my nose in E.N.T and was told i hadnt a sinus infection and that theyre was no mucus to be seen, I was then prescribed MORE antibiotics and melfen... This was 3 days ago and still no joy!!

Neuralgia has been mentioned to me by a doctor but iam not convinced, What are the odds i could have facial neuralgia? I have taken various painkillers like solpadol, kapake, Ponstan 500, Diclac etc and was also given lyrica!

The pain iam getting is mostly on the left side, Its in my cheek and the tooth beside the top wisdom that was extracted is VERY sore if i tap it, If i chew on that side of my mouth (which i always chew on) i get very bad pain afterwards or during eating that can last a few minutes before easing, but the pain can also come randomly for no apparent reason in the form of a dull ache that is really niggling and annoying, When the pain is severe it almost feels as though the tooth is just going to fall out, it also affects other teeth in that area and the gum on that side feels sore! Iam not really experiencing pain on my right side but strangely the back tooth at the top on that side is sore to tap, not as sore but sore none the less!!

What on earth is going on? Anytime i have seen someone they cant seem to find any swelling or tenderness in the face and its been two months now,Where do i go from here?

Sorry for the long post but i cant take much more of this and iam desperate for help!!

I should add that since my wisdom tooth removal,i have had dental work and whenever i have been given the injection to numb me ever since, it doesnt seem to quiet numb me, they usually have to inject more and still doesnt seem to go totally numb as it would have done before

My only suggestion would be to go straight to the dentist when you have a severe episode. If you think it is the upper 2nd molar, have him numb around that tooth only and see if the pain disappears. If it doesn't, try numbing some other teeth on the same side. If that does not end the pain, you probably have either a neuralgia or a severe sinus infection.
