I had a root canal done on my back molar. The procedure was painless and everything went on smoothly. My problem started when I got my permanent crown. My jaw is aching and I cannot open my mouth the normal way, like when I put a food into it. I cannot bite or chew my food. Is this normal? How can I ease the pain? Please help!

Hello streetsmart!
Serious pain is never normal so there must be a problem.
Sounds to me like you are suffering from an infection of the root tip.
Ideally you should visit an endodontologist so s/he can look over the root treated tooth.
Best wishes!

Thanks a lot for your time in answering my question Doc.:-)
I went back to the dentist three days ago, they adjusted my bite. I only eat soft foods and I took pain meds. I am recovering well now.
