Jaw Pain!

Hello,
I am having a serious problem and no one close to me will believe me on it. I had my jaw lock open on me two years ago. Since then my jaw has become more painful and it has happened two more times, each time getting more painful. I recently went to my regular dentist and he told me if I want to fix the spaces in between my teeth the only way to do that would be to go back to my orthodontist and get braces again. I mentioned about my jaw locking out to my dentist and he said nothing. So I went to the orthodontist told them why I was there and about my jaw and they totally blew me off like nothing was the problem!! I made evaluations with other orthodontist only went to two appointments and felt more comfortable with them and because they actually addressed my concerns but then my regular dentist said to the orthodontist not to do anything about it and let it go cause hes no longer worried about and called my parents(Im 23) and told them and said its me that's making up the problem and there is nothing wrong. Yesterday I woke up with a sever toothache and instead of going to my regular dentist went somewhere I go to school because I didn't want to drive in. This guy did an ultrasound of my jaw and said the left disc is not intact fully and the right one is starting to become that way. He recommended me see an oral surgeon to fix the problem or an orthodontist because he says I have sever TMD. I already have a night-guard for the problem but it doesn't feel like it works! My question is what should I do about it. I want to get it fixed so it doesn't happen again cause it hurts me all the time! but my parents side with my dentist back home and wont believe me about it and say not to go see anyone else but my dentist! What should I do
