Jaw pain

User Level:
Patient
Posted by: Alanny  (8 years ago)
My four wisdom teeth were impacted and I had them removed four days ago. The next day after the extraction, I was in pain and very swollen but the pain meds were great. Today is the fourth day since the extraction and everything seems fine except for my jaw. I can’t open my mouth for more than half an inch because the pain was horrible. I can’t eat anything. What should I do with my jaw? When will the pain go away? Any help would be appreciated.

Uh-oh, have to watch out for tendencies to addiction.

You must do stretching excercises while using a hot pack over your muscles. The problem is muscle spasm post-op. You might ask your dentist for a Rx muscle relaxant like Valium, which is another drug you might find entertaining.
