Is my wisdom tooth impacted or infected?

Dear Doctor,

My wisdom tooth is aching so badly. I think it might be infected or impacted. All the other ones are pretty much the same closeness to coming out and they don't hurt nearly as bad. I'm missing my left and right molars. The right one was so badly infected that the dentist had to pull it out immediately and he gave me antibiotics. Is it possible that the infection didn't heal completely and that it has spread all the way to my wisdom tooth? Thanks in advance!

Hello theshirt!

You should have the wisdom tooth extracted. It sounds like the tooth hasn't emerged completely and it is possible you have a pocket in your mucosa membrane.

Read up on wisdom tooth extraction in the blog - there are some very informative and detailed articles. Then it's time to find a good oral surgeon and see what s/he has to say!

All the best!

You have to see your doctor. If it is infected, you have to take antibiotic. When the infection is gone have your wisdom teeth taken out.
