Is my gum or tooth infected?

Hi everyone!

A few months ago, I went to the dentist due to an on and off pain in my upper back tooth. After a thorough examination and some x-rays, the dentist said there is nothing wrong with the tooth. He asked me to observe it more for a month. The pain keeps coming back. It will subside in a day then comes back again. Any idea what could this be? I feel that the pain is coming from one of my upper teeth. Is there a possibility that the gum or the tooth has started to get infected? Please help!

Hello pinky!

Synthetic fillings can cause such pain – more about that on this site – simply conduct a search for “fillings” using the search form.

Another cause could be a retained wisdom tooth, or gum pockets. If your wisdom teeth are retained have an X-ray done – then you should be able to clarify what the problem is!
