Is it normal for my retainer to be like this?

I got my braces removed about 6 hours ago and received my clear plastic retainers 1 hour ago. My orthodontist gave the 'all clear,' saying it looked and fitted fine. However, upon arriving home I noticed there are a few small concave dents and convex bubbles on the retainer, varying in size. Will these dents and bubbles make dents and abrasions on my teeth or prevent the retainer from keeping my teeth in place? Is this normal for retainers? Thanks.

Retainers are designed to keep your teeth from moving. It is important for retainers to be worn immediately after braces removal or your teeth are prone to shifting. An inward dent that does not put any pressure on your tooth should not be a problem at all. Yes, dents and bubbles can make abrasions on your teeth. So, its better to visit your orthodontist again and tell him to make a new retainer . Retainers are worn full time, typically for the first nine months.

I really prefer an upper pink plastic retainer with a wire for the upper, and a wire bonded behind canines and incisors on the lower. Clear plastic retainers do not allow any movement at all to let the teeth settle in to a stable position.
