Is it good to cap a sensitive tooth?

I had an infection in my rear molar and had a root canal done. That was five months ago and until now the tooth is still sensitive. The dentist could not tell where the problem comes from. Nothing showed on the x-ray. The dentist suggested capping the tooth. I was wondering if it is okay to cap a tooth even if it is still sensitive. How can I get rid of the sensitivity? Please help. I would like to gather opinions before coming into a decision. This tooth has given me so much trouble already. I would be grateful for any insights.

No, I would not put a crown on the tooth while the tooth is still sensitive. If all else fails, redo the root canal.
