I have four front teeth on top that were filed down and prepared for crowns about two weeks ago; it’s for cosmetic purposes. I currently have the temporary crowns on. For the past week, I have been noticing awful smell and taste in my mouth. I called the dentist and she said it was possibly cement that had dissolved. Two days ago, I noticed a small pimple on the gum above one of the crowned tooth. Is this a sign of an infection? Please help! I am really worried that I would need a root canal because of this. I would be thankful for any help.

Yep, that "pimple" is probably a draining fistula, and it is root canal time for that tooth. That is why I hate to do crowns, and try to esthetically improve smiles by orthodontics or by veneers, which are much more conservative.
After your root canal, have the dentist do a cast post, and not a prefabricated type that comes loose so easily.
