Infected root canaled tooth

Hi,

I had a root canal done and a crown put on one of my top molars five years ago. For the past month, I could feel pressure when the cheekbone above the root canaled tooth is pressed. I also started to have headaches and the tooth was aching. There was a bad smell coming from the crown everytime I floss this tooth. Is this an infection coming back? Can you please tell me what to expect at the dentist? Thanks!

Could be:

One of the canals is failing.
One of the roots is fractured.
There is leakage under the crown that has ruined the root canal.
It is a coincidental gum pocket and infection.

X-rays usually show which root is failing, if that is the problem.
