How to save a broken tooth that had a root canal done?

Hello!

About 3 years ago, I had a root canal performed on my left upper first premolar. After a year, I unintentionally cracked the tooth. I did not have time to get it looked at then. Early this year, the tooth split off and more than half of it was gone. Now the tooth has began to ache. I can't brush nor floss it because I can't bear the sensitivity. I want to know what my options are before going to the dentist. Is it possible to have this tooth restored? Please let me know what to expect.

Best regards!

Hello Flossy!

If the tooth was badly damaged and can't be saved anymore, the dentist will have to extract it. You may want to consider getting an implant if this is the case.

Hello,

If the root of the tooth is damaged/split then the tooth can't be saved anymore. Have it extracted and get an implant or a bridge.
