I have a simple question for a dentist: What is your opinion about bleaching products that can be applied at home? Are they effective, harmless? What needs to be considered? Thank you for your advice and congrats on this great website!

Hello helenrox!

Home bleaching products are relatively effective and safe, especially according to the manufacturers. However, incorrect usage can lead to gum irritations and sensitive tooth neck issues.

I would always consult with your dentist before using such products. Like this, one can make sure that all fillings are watertight, there is no inflammation of the gum, and no other issues exist that could cause conflicts.

Sometimes it makes more sense to perform an office bleaching; generally it is faster and more intense.

Ideally, have a chat with your dentist so s/he can clear you up!

I also do at-home bleaching. It is more economical and it gives the same result as with the bleaching systems done in a dental clinic.
